Hi, lovely readers!
I’m Bbap, moss’s GF, the bubbly soul behind Bbapmoss! Sending lots of “bbap” vibes your way 🕊️

For bbap’s very first article, we’re kicking off a three-part series introducing temple stays from all around Korea.

  • Golgulsa-temple
  • Hwaun-temple
  • Banya-temple

bbapmoss recently visited Golgulsa Temple Stay and we were honestly shocked by how many international travelers were there. It made us realize just how interested people are in experiencing something uniquely Korean. But at the same time, we also noticed how little information they actually have access to.

Here’s the thing: there are so many other amazing temple stays in Korea, even better than Golgulsa. But still, most international visitors end up going only to Golgulsa. To be real, Golgulsa felt quite commercial and factory-like… a bit far from the peaceful, nature-centered Buddhist healing experience that a temple stay is supposed to offer.

Still, the reason why so many foreigners end up traveling all the way to Golgulsa — even though it’s not that easy to get to — is because it’s one of the few places they can actually find information about. That made us, as temple stay lovers, feel a little sad. So we decided to write about this topic!

Before we dive in , let’s start with the basics
— how do you even book a temple stay in Korea?

Don’t worry, bbapmoss has got you covered!

Temple stays in Korea are super easy to book online.
The official website has most of the major temples listed, and it’s available in multiple languages.

You can search by region, temple name, or even by the type of experience you’re looking for, By setting “Detail” filter

Reservation site

If you use “Search by map” function, you can easily get an overview of temples by region.

Just choose your dates, check availability, and book —
Some temples reply quickly, and others might take a day or two, so be patient. Also, not all temples have English-speaking staff, so you can use this filter “Temples for Foreigners”

“Temples for foreigners” button

So today, we kept it simple with a quick guide on how to book your own temple stay.

Starting from the next post, bbapmoss will dive into real reviews of three different temple stays across Korea. If you have any questions, feel confused, or just want to ask us for help — feel free to reach out anytime.

All we want is for you to have an even better, more meaningful experience during your time in Korea.
